The Landing

We have converted the landing outside Mia's bedroom from a storage area for Jay's flat files to a safe play area, essentially extending her bedroom an additional 250 square feet. No longer are there heavy file drawers that can pinch little fingers, metal corners to run into, or an easy access point for a small child to launch him/herself over the banister onto the floor down below. One might start to believe that we are suitable parents capable of caring for a toddler.

Jay installed shelving above the dresser/changing table, so we now have a convenient place for wipes and diapering accessories, as well as storage for other things. We spruced the whole thing up with her stacking blocks, which she still likes to play with, but I feel fill a more critical need of making the shelves look cute. There is a little media storage center for her toys and a mini table and chairs that she can sit at to color once she learns not to eat the crayons. The last remaining element to the space was the apple green shag rug that I ordered from work. This fine flooring specimen is from the Mary Kate and Ashley Collection. Can you believe teen idols have a rug line? And that I am a proud employee of the company that makes them? Its true.
